Ryan Tannehill

Kicking off his football career at Big Spring High School, Ryan played 10 games at defensive back his sophomore year. Taking over the starting quarterback position his junior year, Ryan passed for an impressive 1,410 yards and rushed for 812. In his senior year, he took his team to the playoffs, while posting numbers of 1,258 yards passing and 617 yards on the ground.

In 2007, Ryan was redshirted at Texas A&M University. After failing to gain the starting quarterback position in his sophomore season, head coach Mike Sherman decided to try him out at the wide receiver position. Ryan thrived at this position, and set the freshman school record for receiving yards and receptions. He also broke the school record for most receptions and receiving yards in one game by a freshman.

After the season, Tannehill made it clear that he still saw himself as a quaterback and that he planned to be the signal caller for A&M next year. However, this was not the case, as he was beat out yet again and moved back to wide receiver. In his second year at the position, he lead his team with 46 receptions for 609 yards and 4 touchdowns. Ryan received All-Big 12 honorable mention for his efforts.

In the 2010 season, Ryan started the first 6 games at the receiver position. However, he was given his shot to start at the quaterback position for the Aggies and he broke the school record with 449 yards through the air. He led the Aggies to a top 25 ranking and once again picked up honorable mention. In 2011, Tannehill started all 13 games and posted numbers of 3,744 yards and 29 touchdowns.

After an impressive year and a half of starting at Texas A&M, Tannehill was drafted 8th overall in the 2012 Draft by Miami. In his rookie season, he threw for a franchise rookie record 3,294 yards, as well as 12 touchdowns. He had an impressive QB rating, for a rookie, of 76.1 and led the team to 7 wins.
