Andrew McCutchen

Andrew McCutchen established himself as one of the top stars in all of Major League Baseball following a 2013 campaign which concluded with him winning the National League MVP. The four-time All-Star center fielder led the Pittsburgh Pirates to the franchise’s first winning season and playoff appearance in 21 years.

Andrew once again was consistently strong in all offensive categories in 2013, finishing among the league leaders in batting average (10th-.317), hits (11th-185), runs scored (11th-97), OPS (10th-.911), and WAR (3rd-8.2). For the second consecutive season, MLB players voted him the National League’s Outstanding Player, a rare honor. Andrew’s breakout season came in 2012, when he was voted by MLB players as the National League’s Outstanding Player based off a season that saw him rank in the top five in most MLB offensive categories including batting average (3rd-.327), hits (4th-194), runs scored (4th-107), OPS (5th-.953), and WAR (4th-7.0). As a defender, Andrew only committed one error for the season, and was rewarded with the prestigious Rawlings Gold Glove as the top National League center fielder.

Since being named the 2009 Baseball America Major League Rookie of the Year, Andrew’s career on the field has flourished while leading the Pittsburgh Pirates offense. In 2010, he had the highest on-base percentage among all National League center fielders (.365) and followed that up with an All-Star season in 2011. Andrew is a rare MLB combination of pure power and speed. He has moved into the the top 50 in most Pirates career offensive categories, an impressive feat for a player who has played only four full seasons with a historic franchise.

A first-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2005, Andrew was considered a baseball prodigy growing up in Fort Meade, Florida. Andrew was named the 2005 Gatorade Player of the Year in Florida and was ranked by Baseball America as the third-best five-tool talent entering the 2005 draft. After realizing one of his professional dreams and signing a long-term contract with the Pirates during the 2012 off-season, Andrew has made a commitment to the Pittsburgh community. He has established Cutch’s Crew, along with the Pirates, to help mentor and provide funding for inner city baseball programs and players. He also serves as the spokesperson for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh and works extensively with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
