Chris Cooley
All Pro Tight End for the Washington Redskins, Chris Cooley was born on July 11, 1982 in Powell, Wyoming. He was originally drafted by the Redskins in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Cooley played college football at Utah State.
In his first NFL season, Cooley led the team in touchdowns (with six), while recording 37 receptions for 314 yards, catching three passes of more than twenty yards, and getting 23 first downs. He finished the season with an average of 8.5 yards per catch. He was the Redskins' nominee for the NFL Man of the Year award for his work reading to children and feeding the poor
In 2005, Cooley blossomed as a receiver, catching 71 passes for 774 yards and seven touchdowns, including three in a game versus the rival Dallas Cowboys, breaking the Redskins franchise record for receptions as a tight end
In 2007, Cooley had scored in all but one game as of week six. In week six, Cooley had 9 receptions for a career high 105 yards and one touchdown in a 17-14 loss against the Green Bay Packers. On December 18, 2007 Chris Cooley was named to his first Pro Bowl team.
In 2008, Cooley was named to his second consecutive Pro Bowl. Cooley finished the season with 83 catches for 849 yards and 1 touchdown; career highs in catches and yardage. In 2009, Chris' season was derailed by a broken ankle in the Week 7 Monday Night Football matchup. After the injury in 2009, Cooley came back to play in all 16 games in 2010 on his way to tie a career high with 849 yards, which ranked second in the NFL among tight ends. In 2011 Cooley became the Washington Redskins' all-time leader in receptions at the tight end position.
Camp Director Rod Huber
Rod Huber returned in 2010 for his 11th season as the College of Mount St. Joseph’s head coach. Huber has 27 years of coaching experience at the high school and college level and has been on the Mount's football staff since the program’s inception in 1990.
Coach Huber led the Lions' program to three straight HCAC championships from 2004-2006, and the Lions 9-2 overall mark last season was their eighth straight season of a .500 or better record. The Lions claimed the 2009 HCAC championship with a 7-0 mark, their fourth HCAC title in program history, which enabled them to qualify to the NCAA Division III playoffs, marking their fifth overall appearances in the post-season tournament. The Mount is also the only team in HCAC history to record three straight conference titles. In addition, Huber was named HCAC Coach of the Year last fall, his third such honor.
Prior to becoming the third head coach in Lions’ football history in 2000, Huber was a defensive position coach and spent four years as the Lions’ defensive coordinator. He also coached the College’s wrestling program for four seasons. During the 1999-2000 season the team garnered Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and NCAA Division III Midwest Regional championships. Huber was named conference and regional Coach of the Year that season.
Upon graduation from high school, he entered the U.S. Army where he played football and spent time in Germany and the U.S. After leaving the Army, Huber enrolled at the University of Cincinnati where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in social studies education in 1988. He began his coaching career at Lloyd Memorial High School ( Kentucky ) in 1982, moved on to Glen Este for one season (1986) and later coached outside linebackers at C.A.P.E. High School (1987-1988).
Coach Huber is an active member in the Southwest Ohio Football Coaches Association (SWOFCA), the American Football Coaches Association and is a member of the Jason Taylor Foundation. Coach Huber has directed youth football camps for many pro athletes including Jason Taylor, Chris Cooley, Chris Johnson, and Steve Smith.
