Darren McFadden
Oakland Raider running back, Darren McFadden was born on August 27, 1987 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He played college football at the University of Arkansas. Coming out of high school, Darren was a highly touted 5- star running back. He attended Oak Grove High School in Arkansas where he received awards such as Parade Magazine High School All-American and the Arkansas High School Player of the Year.
In 2005, McFadden joined the Razorbacks and experienced early success. As a true freshman, Darren played in all ten games. That year, he earned SEC freshman of the year, Freshman All- American, and Newcomer of the Year by ESPN. In his next two years on campus, he never slowed down. The next year he was named the starter, he increased his single season rushing total from 1,113 yards to 1,647 yards, which was a single season Arkansas record. His post season accolades that season included the Doak Walker Award (first sophomore to ever receive this honor), he placed second in Heisman voting, and was a consensus All-American. The 2007 campaign proved to be nothing less than his best. McFadden shattered his rushing record by rushing for 1,830; he won the Doak Walker Award, again, was a Walter Camp Award winner, and was the National Player of the Year. McFadden ended his collegiate career with4,590 yards and 41 touchdowns.
McFadden took a leap of faith and decided to forgo his senior season. Before the draft, Darren performed well at the combines in Indianapolis. Football gurus predicted him to go in the top 5 and some predicted him to go number 1 coming out of college. They proved to be right. McFadden was chosen number 4 by the Oakland Raiders.
Darren McFadden has had a successful career in the NFL. He has racked up 2,627 yards on the ground as well as 1,191 through the air along with 20 total touchdowns.
