Dwight Howard

Los Angeles basketball player Dwight David Howard was born on December 8, 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia. Coming out of high school, Dwight was a highly recruited player for both colleges and NBA teams. He attended Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy in Atlanta where he led his team to the 2004 state title in his senior season. Howard was awarded the Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award, the Morgan Wootten High School Player of the Year Award, Gatorade National Player of the Year Award and McDonald's National High School Player of the Year honors. He was also honored as one of the 35 Greatest McDonald's All-Americans in 2012.

Deciding to forgo college, Howard immediately declared himself for the 2004 NBA Draft where he was selected first overall by the Orlando Magic. During his rookie season, Dwight became the youngest player to average a double double, youngest to average at least ten rebounds in a season, and youngest player to ever record at least 20 rebounds in a game. He was selected for the 2007 NBA All-Star game and, under his leadership, got the Magic into the playoffs for their first time since 2003. He was named again to the 2008 All-Star Game as he led his team to their first division title in twelve years. The Magic then won the division title again the following year and made it to the NBA Finals. In 2012 Howard was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers and has scored 12,217 points as well as grabbed 8,637 rebounds in his career.

Testimonials

  • Thank you for such a wonderful camp experience for my children and for me, as well! My children enjoyed learning the techniques and walked away giggling each day about Dwight's comedy with the campers. I stayed with my kids for all three days and was so entertained by the way that Dwight and the coaches worked with the kids. They were so organized and warm-hearted with all of the campers. This camp was worth every penny!!! . We are very happy with the skills our kids learned and hope to return next year! He made them very happy!!! Please thank him for me and my husband for encouraging them to read!
  • I was very impressed as to how much time Dwight Howard spent at the camp and interacting with the kids. Dwight absolutely made the difference. He seemed to spend time with almost every kid and was interactive and fun. Dwight spent a significant amount of his valuable time interacting with all of the kids and for me that was unexpected as a first time participant. My son was able to actually play some basketball with Dwight Howard. This experience cannot be matched and made it very enjoyable.
  • My son went to the Dwight Howard B-ball camp in Orlando - he was super with the kids and there all the time!
  • My son went to the camp in LA and had a fantastic time. FYI, Dwight was as good with kids as I've seen any pro athlete from any sport. He had a great manner and gave the kids his full attention. His wrap-up message at the end about trying hard, doing well in school, minding your parents, etc was spot on. I couldn't recommend his camp enough.
