Heather Mitts

Heather Blaine Mitts was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and is a key defender for the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team.  In high school, she played soccer for St. Ursula Academy where she helped lead her team to four straight district titles and earned First-Team All-State selection during her junior and senior years.
 

In college, Heather played for the University of Florida and ranks as the all-time leader in games played (95), starts (94), and minutes played (7,547).  She helped the Gators to earn the SEC title all four years of her career and assisted in the first and only NCAA title in Women's Soccer in 1999. She also earned many individual accomplishments including Most Inspirational Player as a freshman, MVP as a senior, NSCAA First-Team All-American as a senior and Third-Team as a junior, NCAA All-Tournament Team, All-SEC First-Team, and SEC All-Academic pick.

Professionally, Mitts was selected in the second round of the inaugural WUSA Draft by the Philadelphia Charge where she started all 51 games. She has been a part of the U.S. Women's National Team for the past 5 years and helped the team to win two gold medals in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics.  She is currently a member of the Atlanta Beat, of the Women's Professional Soccer league. In 2011, she was named to the "Four Nations" Tournament Team in China. Mitts is one of the premier defenders in the nation!  

Dave Ruehl will be directing the Heather Mitts Soccer Camp for the second time in 2011. For the past four years Ruehl has been the head soccer coach at St. Ursula Academy High School where he has compiled a 75-3-5 record during his tenure. Prior to being at St. Ursula Academy, he was the Head Varsity Soccer Coach at Elder High School from 1995-2005.   While at St. Ursula Ruehl has won back to back Ohio Division 1 state championships in 2007 and 2008.  Ruehl was the Ohio Division 1 Coach of the Year in 2009.  He was the Girls Greater Cincinnati League (GGCL) and Ohio South West District Coach of the Year in 2008, 2009, and 2010.  Ruehl was the Cincinnati Enquirer Coach of the year in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Dave Ruehl has coached soccer for more than 15 years and brings his vast soccer knowledge to the Heather Mitts Soccer Camp. Coach Ruehl’s philosophy focuses on teaching fundamental soccer technique and tactics in a fun, yet challenging way.
