John Wall

Johnathan Hildred Wall Jr., a professional basketball player for Washington, was born on September 6, 1990 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He played his collegiate career at the University of Kentucky. John began his high school career by playing his first two seasons at Garner Magnet High School, but moved to Raleigh after his sophomore year and transferred to Word of God Christian Academy. Wall made an immediate impact at Word of God and led his team his senior year to the North Carolina Class 1A state schampionship where they lost by a buzzer beating heave from half court. John was selected to participate in the Nike Hoop Summit and Jordan Brand Classic after his senior season.

Wall committed to play basketball at the University of Kentucky where he made an impressive impact right away. In his first collegiate game Wall scored 19 points in Kentucky's win against Miami University. Wall averaged 16.6 points, 6.5 assists and 1.8 steals during his lone season at Kentucky. He set the Kentucky single-game assist record with 16 (11 in the 1st half) in a game vs. Hartford on 12/29/09 and set a new Wildcats single-season assist record with 241. Wall holds the record for most points in a season by a Kentucky freshman, was named a 2010 Consensus First Team All-American, won the 2009-10 Adolph Rupp National Player of the Year award, and was voted as the 2009-10 SEC Player of the Year and was named 2010 SEC Tournament MVP. Wall became the first player in Kentucky history to record double-doubles in both points and rebounds as well as points and assists and led Kentucky to the Elite Eight in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. This would be Wall's only collegiate season as he declard for the 2010 Draft in April 2010.

John Wall was the number one pick in the 2010 Draft, being selected by Washington. In his first home game Wall tied a franchise record with nine steals and was the third youngest player to record a triple-double. He was named to the 2011 Rookie Game where he was awarded the MVP award. Wall has averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 135 games with 130 starts in his first two seasons and became the sixth fastest player in history (124 games) to reach the 2,000 points/1,000 assists plateau. Since the early 1970s, Wall is the fastest player (134 games) to reach 2,200 points, 1,000 assists, 600 rebounds, 200 steals and 90 blocks. His #2 jersey is ranked as the 10th top-selling jersey in 2010-11.
