Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving was born in Melbourne, Australia and grew up playing basketball in West Orange, New Jersey. During his high school career, Irving played for the Junior National Select team and won the Gold Medal at the FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship. He came out of high school as the #1 ranked point guard according to ESPN and attended Duke for an injury-shortened season before entering the NBA Draft. Irving was selected 1st overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2011 draft and went on to win the Rookie of the year Award in 2012, averaging 18.5 PPG, 5.4 APG, 3.7 RPG, and 1.1 SPG. Irving is beginning to emerge as one of the league’s top point guards after winning the 2013 3 Point Contest and playing in the 2013 NBA All-Star Game.

After yet another year of stellar play, he was elected as a starter in this year’s NBA All-Star Game - only this time he would take honors as All-Star MVP after scoring 31 points and handing out 14 assists. Irving also achieved a milestone by recording his first triple double with 21 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
