 Anthony Muñoz

The third overall pick of the 1980 NFL Draft, Anthony Muñoz was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals. He played Offensive Tackle for the Bengals helping lead the team to two super bowl appearances in the 1980’s. Muñoz was named to the pro-bowl 11 consecutive times for the Bengals and he was a three time offensive linemen of the year in 1987, 1988 and 1991.

At 6’6, 280 pounds, Muñoz was considered a rare physical specimen because he was a power blocker and he also had unmatched agility making him lethal to defensive lines. The NFL named Muñoz as one of three all-time best Offensive Tackles ever to play the game (along with Roosevelt Brown, and Forrest Gregg). In 1998 Muñoz was selected to the National Football Hall of Fame.

Muñoz received his Business Degree while earning Football All-American Honors twice at Southern California University. In 1980 Muñoz fulfilled his lifelong goal and led USC to a rose bowl victory over Ohio State coming right off of an injury. His college career was somewhat injury-stricken as he suffered three knee surgeries in four years. At the age of 22 many people said that the Bengals were taking a huge risk selecting the offensive tackle so high in the draft but Muñoz obviously proved doubters wrong very quickly.

Muñoz was born and raised in Ontario, California where he attended Chaffey High School. As a youngster Muñoz was extremely athletic and large for his age. He excelled at baseball in early years and became a three sport athlete at Chaffey High School. By the time high-school came around for Muñoz, he had gained national attention in Football. His career took off from there.

Camp Director Andy Olds

He is a 5 time recipient of the Cincinnati Bengals Coach Of the Week, was awarded the Warren County Excellence in Teaching Award in 1998, and in 2011, Coach Olds was named the Marvin Lewis High School Football Coach of the year. He also directs Camps for Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz, Chicago Bear’s Devin Hester, and Tennessee Titan’s Chris Johnson. Andy has been with Chris as his director since the inception of the camp in 2007.

Prior to joining the Kings Football program, Olds served as assistant football coach and head baseball coach at Madison Plains High school from 1985 – 1991. He is a graduate of East Clinton High School and Capital University where he played college football. Olds received his Masters degree from Indiana University where he was an assistant professor as well as an assistant baseball coach under legendary coach Bob Morgan. He currently resides in Maineville, Ohio with wife Pam and has two sons Tyler and Michael.

Testimonials

  • "I've been meaning to send you an email earlier but with the season starting, it was a challenge but strongly felt that I had to let you guys know: What a successful youth camp ! ! ! On time, instructional, and fun. My kids said they could have done that ALL day! But more importantly, the words from your speakers were motivating and inspiring. The seeds planted in these kids build better atheletes which indirectly builds better parents (for those in the stands) and ultimately builds better communities. All this by simply caring which confirms and further challenges my efforts in building the youth in whatever program I am involved in. Everyone should. ...and what a way to build fans for Anthony Munoz. I am a fan!" Paul Cantong, Houston Cantong, Joshua Cantong
