James Harden

Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden was born in Los Angeles, California on August 26, 1989. He attended Artesia High School in Lakewood, California where as a sophomore he averaged 13.2 points per game. In his junior year at Artesia he upped his averages to 18.8 points per game, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while leading his team to the California State Title. He had similar stats, 18.8 points per game, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists, his senior year and led his team a second consecutive state title. Due to his play that year, Harden was named a Parade and McDonald’s All-American. In addition to that, he won the 2006 Las Vegas Adidas Super 64 Championship with his AAU team, Pump-N-Run Elite, beating other teams consisting of future NBA stars Kevin Love and Michael Beasley. After graduating from Artesia, Harden attended Arizona State University for his freshman and sophomore seasons. His first year at Arizona State Harden averaged 17.8 points per game en route to being named All-Pac -10 First Team. Building on his freshman campaign, Harden was named to many All-America watch lists for his sophomore season and was on the Wooden Award preseason watch list. He averaged 20.1 points per game which included a 40-point outburst in an 88-58 victory over UTEP. For that season, he was again named All-Pac-10 First Team, the Pac-10 Player of the Year, and was a consensus All-America First Team.

Harden declared for the NBA Draft after his sophomore season at ASU and was drafted third overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder, marking the first player to be drafted by the Thunder since their relocation from Seattle as the Supersonics.  He averaged 9.9 points and was named to the All-Rookie Second Team his first season. After a few more years with the Thunder, Harden averaged 16.8 points coming off the bench in 2012, helping his team reach the NBA Finals before losing to the champion Miami Heat. His efforts coming off the bench earned him the 2012 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award, becoming the second youngest player to ever do so. The following summer, he helped Team USA dominate the rest of the field and received an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2012 London Games for his efforts.  James was traded to the Houston Rockets after the 2012 season, where he resides as the starting shooting guard. Since being traded to the Rockets, James has emerged as one of the league's top shooting guards and scorers, averaging 25.6 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.9 rebounds in his first full season as a starter

Testimonials

  • My son attended the James Harden camp earlier this week and I just wanted to say how impressed we were with it. My son is 13 years old and he thought it was very cool how much James interacted with all the campers. I certainly hope you intend on having this camp again in the future as both my boys will attend it as well as us recommending it to all of their friends.
