Matt Forte

Matt Forte was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on December 10, 1985 and graduated from Slidell High School in 2004. After graduating from Slidell as an underrated running back prospect, he attended the University of Tulane in New Orleans. Matt lettered for four years at Tulane and had his breakout season during his senior year. Coming off a knee injury from the previous year, he broke several school records including rushing for 2,127 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also had 5 games where he ran for 200-plus yards that year and 2 games where he ran for 300-plus yards. Due to his performance in the 2007 season, Forte was the only non-BCS athlete to be a semifinalist for the Maxwell and Doak Walker Awards and to make the Walter Camp Player of the Year list, and one of only 3 players to have his name on all three lists. At the end of his senior season, Matt was selected to the Senior Bowl and received the MVP Award, rushing for 59 yards on 8 carries to go along with 4 receptions for 38 yards. During his time at Tulane, he was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2004, was 2-time All-Conference USA in 2005 and 2007, and was a Third-Team AP All-American. Forte entered the NFL Draft in 2008 following his senior season.

Matt was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He made his debut on September 7, 2008 against the Indianapolis Colts where he rushed for 123 yards on 23 carries and scoring his first touchdown. He set the franchise record for most yards gained in a running back debut. He became the first Bears rookie to rush for over 1,000 yards since 2001 and finished 1,238 rushing yards with 1,715 total yards from scrimmage, good for third in the entire league that year. He finished fourth that year in Rookie of the Year voting. After another year of NFL experience, Forte began to shine in the 2010 season, breaking long touchdown runs and being named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week as well as FedEx Ground Player of the Week. The next year, Forte became the only player to ever have 900 rushing yards and 400 receiving yards in each of his first four seasons. He was named to his first Pro Bowl that year but could not participate due to a sprained MCL suffered earlier in the season. In 2012, Forte finished with 1,094 yards rushing on 248 attempts and currently has 5,327 career rushing yards with 26 rushing touchdowns.
